"Healing Walls"
In the mural work, Healing Walls, my intention is bring color and light into the world and take the art work where its most needed. I have painted wall size or window size murals in hospitals, nursing homes, detention centers and schools of inspiring natural scenes. I like to share my unique gift for opening new horizons through art to those whose lives are restricted. Bringing the seashore, a blooming garden exploding with color into the institutional setting improves the psychological environment and helps the emotional opening of the person viewing it.
I paint alone or interactively with children, hospital staff or any residents. The painting process done together with me and the patients and staff brings pleasure and meaningful activity to adults as well as children during their long hospital stays. Creativity stimulates the mind, uplifts the spirit and generates pleasant memories or visions for the future. I choose to use my art to bring hope and joy through visual forms of beauty.
Is it my goal to continue to humanize institutions by painting more walls and bringing the natural outdoor world from the outside in.
Currently there are “Healing Walls” at the Yale University Hospital in New Haven, CT in the USA, Anna Mayer Hospital, Florence, Italy, Motol in Prague, CZ as well as several hospitals and nursing homes in Finland and elsewhere in the world.
